Countdown

Time left until a date, or through a timer, drawn as segments, a clock or a phrase, and kept current to the second.

c2-countdown counts down to a date (an ISO 8601 string or a millisecond timestamp in markup, a Date from script) or through a duration in seconds, which starts when the element connects unless it is paused. display picks the drawing: segments (a box per unit with its name, the default), clock (14:05:31) or inline (a phrase such as “2 days, 14 hours”). units lists the units to show, largest first; the largest absorbs the rest, so units="hours minutes" shows two days as 48 hours, and trim drops leading units that are zero. Unit names and digits come from Intl in the element’s locale, else the nearest lang attribute, so there is nothing to translate; format sets their length (long, short, narrow). One timer wakes exactly when the shown value changes. warn-at sets the seconds under which the element is in its warning state, pause(), start() and reset() drive a timer from script, and at zero it fires complete once and shows its ended slot in place of the zeros. The host has the timer role, and assistive technology reads a full phrase rather than the digits. Style the states with :state(running), :state(paused), :state(warning) and :state(ended).
